INVITATION

Dear Colleague,

On 1 May, 2004 the European Union witnessed its biggest enlargement: ten new countries – including Hungary – became full members of the EU. What are the experiences of the first two years of EU memberbership? How the enlargement effected society, economy and political cooperation? These are just some of the questions covered by the speakers of the international conference entitled „The First Two Years of EU Membership” organised by the European Commission Representation in Hungary. It is my pleasure to invite you to participate at the conference, which is realised in cooperation with the Information Office of the European Parliament.

The conference will be held on 8-9 December, 2006 in the building of the Hungarian Parliament (1055 Budapest, Kossuth Lajos tér 1-3). Please find enclosed the draft programme together with the registration form. English-Hungarian simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

There is no registration fee but participants (or their organisations/institutions) are requested to pay their travel and hotel expenses. All other expenses (conference materials and services, meals, refreshments, etc.) will be covered by the organisers. The registration deadline is (Friday), 1 December, 2006.

Should you need more information please contact the conference organiser European House by phone (36-1) 356-8440 or email <info@eucivil.hu>.

Looking forward to meeting you in Budapest,

Sincerely yours,

Gábor György
